Can you believe it?

Sharon Jenkins

I would never have imagined that at this time of my life (age 74), I would be starting a new adventure such as opening a quilting store! I love quilting and have spent many enjoyable hours planning, cutting and sewing together quilts to give to others. My daughter, Brenda, loves to work with paper and always claimed that she had no desire to quilt so I had to stay alive long enough to use up all my fabric before I die. If that is the case, I will be around for some time to come!

Now that I am reaching those years where you think more and more of your family and want them around you, I've been trying to persuade Brenda to move from California to Texas with no success. Then I thought about how wonderful it would be to blend our two hobbies and create a scrapbooking and quilting store and presented the idea and, after thinking about it, she thought it was a good idea as well. When my son learned of the idea, he decided he wanted in as well as a silent but active-when-needed partner. After much discussion and what ifs, we decided to go for it!

We discussed the idea for a year and looked for a good spot for the store. We had to take a lot of things into consideration, such as location, cost, availability, size, etc. We didn't always agree but it was pretty amazing how many times we did. Between the three of us, I think we came up with most of the issues we face. Agreeing on a logo was a special kind of time because we did all have different ideas on that. But we did decide and we all agree it fits what we have in mind.

We are looking forward to seeing what is to come for us and our ideas!
